Career Path
The following is an example of a typical career path at Kendall.
The amount of time it takes to be promoted depends on each individual as well as the openings available at the time.
Entry Level Positions
LEVEL I
Ground Technician
- Learning tasks of position and proper techniques to operate chipper machine
- Currently enrolled in training modules, Line Clearance Certification and the Mentor Program
LEVEL II
Equipment Operator (Grapple Truck, Mechanical Trimmer, Mower,
Skid Steer and UTV)
- Excel in Ground Technician position
- Demonstrated operational knowledge of specific equipment uses
- Ability to maintain and inspect equipment used
- Completed Mentor Program
- Complete Line Clearance Certification
Aerial Lift Trimmer
- Excel in Ground Technician position
- Demonstrated knowledge of routine and emergency operation of aerial lift truck, minimum approach distance (MAD), proper trimming skills
- Understands all electrical hardware
- Completed Mentor Program
- Completed Line Clearance Certification
Climber
- Excel in Ground Technician position
- Demonstrated knowledge of routine and emergency climbing techniques and rescue operations, minimum approach distance (MAD), proper cuts, knots, roping, and rigging
- Understands all electrical hardware
- Completed Mentor Program
- Completed Line Clearance Certification
LEVEL III
Foreperson
- Excel in all positions on crew assigned
- Ability to maintain and inspect all equipment
- Assign and supervise crew members
- Correctly complete Hazard Assessment
- Obtain CDL and Herbicide License
Leadership Positions
LEVEL IV
General Foreperson
- Excel in Foreperson position
- Complete GF Orientation
- Complete GF Mentor Program
LEVEL V
Safety Manager
- Perform quarterly inspections of all crews in territory
- Inspect equipment and machinery for possible unsafe conditions
- Provide on-the-spot coaching
- Conduct various trainings
Supervisor
- Excel in General Foreperson position
- Oversee performance on all vegetation management work for a territory consisting of multiple crews in one or more states
- Control costs
- Improve work processes
- Prepare, control and administer project budgets
Regional Manager
- Excel in Supervisor position
- Provide leadership, vision, support and direction required on each job
- Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
- Provide highest quality service to customers
- Review bids, contracts and proposals
